The Principal

The Principal's goal is to acquire and operate a single, enduring business, preserving its legacy while driving disciplined growth. 

The Principal lives in Houston's suburbs, with his wife X and their three kids, X, Y and Z. He often says his greatest work is being a dad, and he finds real joy in seeing each of his kids grow in their own way: X’s curiosity and growing independence, Y’s nonstop energy and imagination, and baby Z’s excitement as he discovers everything for the first time. Together, they love spending time outdoors, biking around the city, and slowing down for family dinners at the end of busy days. 

For the Principal, family isn’t just balance, it’s what gives meaning to everything else.

Ternion is an old word that means “a group of three.” For the Principal, it carries personal significance as a reference to his three children, X, Y, and Z.

The name reflects his belief that great businesses, like strong families, are built with care, consistency, and long-term commitment. It also embodies the three core principles the Principal brings to every opportunity: discipline, stewardship, and growth.

The Principal grew up in Mexico City, in a close-knit, multicultural family with roots in Spain and France that taught him resilience, humility, and perseverance from an early age. 

His father, who has long battled mental-health disorders, and his sister, who overcame leukemia as a teenager, deeply shaped his empathy and perspective on what truly matters. Alec’s mother, a steady and grounding presence through it all, modeled hard work and grace under pressure, qualities that continue to guide him. 

Growing up in such a diverse and resilient environment, he learned to value both discipline and optimism, traits that now define his approach to business and life.

In his most recent role as an operator at XX, the Principal helped build and scale from its early stages to millions of users and into profitability all while fostering a culture where employees felt empowered, valued, and connected to the company’s mission.

Prior to that, the Principal gained experience working in international banks such as X, Y and Z, holding roles that spanned investment banking, private equity, and SMB banking.

The Principal earned his MS from Stanford Graduate School of Business,  and holds a BS in Finance from ITESM (Mexico).
